chingaleraPenns' that teddy bear you had since you were little, your first puppy, your grandpa that showed you how to do stuff, the guy who can tell you how to escape from a bank vault on acid, a friend you've never met but always know is there somewhere-
I should tweet this on his page....
chingaleraSomeone do it for me??...forgot how to use the twitter
VoodooVnothing really wrong with the IDEA of a creator. It's just that most, if not all current depictions of god and their religions are demonstrably harmful, petty, vengeful, etc. Same with religion IMO, religion is not inherently bad, it just depends on how it's used.
Come up with a religion that's a bit more open minded and peaceful, and based in reality instead of fear and submission and you've got something that more people can get on board with.
but then again, depending on how you define religion, that may be where religion stops being religion and becomes more of a philosophy instead.
packosays...the idea of a creator is fine with evidence to back it up
as you said, alot of religions have been used destructively
its really easy to replace creator with Invisible Blue Spaghetti Monster That Lives On The Far Side Of The Moon
also, not a single, constructive/positive thing that has come out of religion either directly or as a by-product... could not be achieved through secularism
