Obama says the real Mitt Romney didn't show up to debate

President Obama gives his first reaction to last night's debate at a rally held a today in Sloan's Lake Park in Denver, Colorado.

I anticipated Obama, the heavy weight, wiping the floor with Romney, the light weight. However, it was Romney who constantly sucker punched Obama, who appeared to have mislaid both his gloves and gum shield. I hope he finds them before round 2.

I'm gonna wait until after election day before saying it worked, but I agree, that's the most reasonable explanation for why Obama seemed so unwilling to go on the attack in the debate.

I'm hoping we hear him sound a lot more like this in the next one.

The President gave Mitt Jagger Romney enough rope to hang himself on, knowing that Romney's mouth is his own worst enemy, and it worked.

He won the debate, but yeah, he had to lie through his teeth and change his position on everything in order to do it.

So in the end...did he really win? Romney's getting his ass dragged over the coals by the fact checkers now and once again we have this situation where I'm sure Romney's goal was to fire up his base. But he forgot the lesson of Sarah Palin: You can fire up your base, but that also fires up your opposition to vote against you as well.

I'm sure there were plenty of Obama supporters who probably were going to stay home on election day either because they figure Obama's already won this and most people, republicans included, anticipated Obama wiping the floor with Romney, but to see him lie so blatantly and change his colors yet again ensures that they WILL come out and vote to make sure Romney doesn't win.

I would expect him to get in gear in the coming debates.

I think Obama was busy being President and underestimated an opponent who seemed to be suffering from foot-in-mouth disease in the weeks prior. I have a hard time believing he would take a dive on purpose. Where is the strategy in losing? Obama doesn't seem like the type of guy that likes to engage in elaborate campaign games. I think he has bigger problems to worry about than Mitt Romney, like the economy, unemployment and foreign policy.
