Obama and McCain Both in Bed with Big Oil

From Y/T:

Wallace: "The money story of the week was the day after Barack Obama launched his ad - John McCain, George Bush, blah blah blah, Big Oil - turns out Barack Obama has actually received more money from Exxon-Mobil and from oil than John McCain has..."

A couple things here. First, it is true that Obama has received more contributions from employees of Exxon Mobil than McCain. But it's also true, however, that McCain has received more than three times overall ($1.3 million) from the industry than Obama has.

Woa hangon, near the end there the hostess said she had figures showing McSame getting over a mil from oil industry in total, where obama has only got 400k from exon...and noone else, they didnt even comment on that.

.....What ????

A few things:

1. The lady "breaking" this story is a senior adviser to the McCain campaign.

2. The statistic she first mentions is cherrypicked: looking only at donations from Exxon Mobil executives, it's Obama $42,100 to McCain's $35,166.

3. They then say Obama got $384,000 from oil executives, total. McCain has received over $2 million. Mika says $1 mil off the top of her head, but that's just for the month of June, specifically after he started the offshore drilling rant. July's numbers aren't out yet, but I suspect there will be more to come.

4. Who's arguing for policies beneficial to oil companies? McCain with gas tax holidays and offshore drilling, or Obama who's against both of those, and for a windfall profits tax, and reducing or eliminating oil subsidies?

Despite the above, I'll agree it's rather sucky how corporations manage to find a way to get big money to both candidates, just to make sure there's some level of debt owed.

Though taking a McCain campaign adviser's word for what the situation is with donations is ridiculous.

This is news? They're talking with a McCain campaign adviser who happily glosses over facts like Obama's contributers were individuals employed by Exxon, and McCain's share from the oil industry at large is much greater,... and then they all run around in circles not knowing who's right or wrong...

I can find no difference between watching this and watching The View.
