schmawysays...The "Old Lady" is Janet Flanner...
"Janet Flanner (13 March, 1892 - 7 November, 1978) was an American writer and journalist who served as the Paris correspondent of The New Yorker magazine from 1925 until she retired in 1975. She wrote under the pen name Genet. She also published a single novel, The Cubical City, set in New York City.[wikip.]

You did what!?!?
Who is Norman Mailer when he's at home?
Yogisays..."Perhaps you'd like two more chairs to contain your intellect."
Dick Cavett is the MotherFuggin' Man

deathcowsays...I could watch this stuff all day.
gwiz665says...Norman Mailer seems like an intensely pompous ass, who I wouldn't want to be in the same room with. Compare with http://www.videosift.com/video/Orson-Welles-turns-the-tables-on-Dick-Cavett who's just delightful compared to Norman. Probably quite a bit "intellectually greater" too.
Kallesays...At a Manhattan dinner party in 1977, Mailer threw his whiskey in Vidal's face, head-butted him and punched him in the mouth. When the hostess, Newsweek and Washington Post journalist Lally Weymouth, begged other guests to pull the men apart, Clay Felker, then editor of Esquire, told her: "Shut up. This fight is making your party."

Some say he even hit Vidal backstage before the show.
