fireflysays...Do they honestly think I'm going to dive behind my couch when playing Metroid? I could break a hip!
deathcowsays...Try and hold a pencil up in the air in front of you for 15 minutes, much less some stick sensitive to all directions of motion.
daphnesays...Exactly, deathcow. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. We'll have a generation of kids with freakishly huge right arms (or opposite for the Lefties). I've heard also read that the sensors don't work 100% of the time...how annoying would THAT be during a major battle?
I give it 2 months before they have an add-on for the current, hand-held style. Or an option for the brain implant.
joemawlmasays...The remote style controller can also be turned on it's side and used like a normal controller. In addition to that, a classic style controller can be purchased which looks like an old SNES gamepad and PS2 gamepad combined (includes analog sticks). I am sure all games can be played either way (although I can't confirm this).
This console will have software emulators for all their previous consoles as well as some select titles from Sega Genesis. The classic controllers will be very useful for these.
vaterunsersays...holding the Wii controller for 15 minutes won't be much different then holding the remote control while zapping through TV...
there won't be any problem if you give your arm a rest once in a while
Sony already started to copy that idea (unsuccesfully, though), and Microsoft is considering to add motion sensors to their next console, too...the concept of the Wii is not a "dumb idea", it's the future of videogaming...first, graphics changed from 2D to 3D, and now controllers are changing from 2D to 3D...stop whining about that and go with the time
if you'd rather like to spend 3 times the money on a console that doesn't offer ANY changes in gameplay (except for that cheap tilt-sensor, which is a rip-off from both Nintendo AND Microsoft), go for it...
daphnesays...Well, vaterunser, I don't plan on spending money on ANY console. I'm happy with my $300 PS2, thanks.
If you think it will be the same as flipping channels, you must hit the button in rapid succession for an hour while pointing it straight out in front of you.
I guess I'll just sit here and "whine" about not having a sore right arm.
joemawlma, that's pretty cool that they are including Sega Genisis games. Now maybe I can sell some of these suckers.
