New Orleans Mayor Nagin Coldcocks the Media

This is New Orleans Mayor Nagin's tirade against the local news media. He appeared on WWL-TV's morning show. His 2007 schedule was published with an article critical of how he spends his time as mayor.

"Nobody has ever taken a city from being totally devastated to where we are right now."

Wow, his intellect is astounding. He's correct, nobody has EVER rebuilt a city after a devastating disaster. What a dufus.

Maybe he should fight Uve Boll to get his rage out.

“They seem to forget that we went to court over a serious civil rights violation...in the days following Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans dispatched police officers and National Guard troopers to confiscate firearms. In many cases, citizens were disarmed at gunpoint, without warrant and without probable cause. Nagin and Riley, and every other official in New Orleans who was part of this outrage, need to understand that the Constitution may not be suspended in New Orleans or anywhere else by a natural disaster, or on somebody’s whim."

Say what you want about Ray Nagin. He was put in a really crappy predicament by Katrina. The city was just ripe for the picking by the "big one." Every mayor inherited the problem of poor infrastructure, crappy levees, and a corrupt government, but no one ever did anything about it. Katrina set Ray Nagin up the bomb.

FWIW, WWL took the liberty of removing a ton of personal info from the mayor's schedule that his own office left in before they published it.
