recolouring black and white footage and adding cool sound effects for the sake of getting the attention of the audience is always problematic especially if you think for a second and realize that most of the footage here is taken out of context of what the man behind the camera wanted to show at the time of the recording..

France2 makes some really great historical documentaries, glad to see they're starting to get international exposure.

If you're interested in this topic, you should read 1945:the downfall of Berlin, by Anthony Beevor. Reads like a novel, and brilliantly captures both the experiences of the ordinary person on the ground as well as the manoeuvring in the circles of power.
