I mean ya, some dude in a mask jumps out at me from the back seat of my car, and I'll probably jump, then swear a lot, then laugh because they weren't a crook trying to rob/kill me. Your talking about a completely different culture, which has different paradigms, different ideologies, etc. Some Eastern European countries still believe in hexes and magic. Haiti still has voodoo.
