NASA's UFO Footage [10:11]

I won't comment on the authenticity of the footage, but I will say, if it is real it sure looks like one groovy alien party out there!

Magic tricks, UFOs... apples, oranges. And way to contradict yourself -

"the fact that some things in the universe seem unexplainable doesnt mean anyone gets to explain them."

...

"repeat after me...there are no aliens visiting the earth."

This video wasn't even about alien contact with earth.

It made no claims, propagated no theories -- it was just footage and images.

Aw you're just part of the cover-up.

Who do you work for!?!?!

Why do they all have to be tiny little specs of nothingness on every image, every video? Why isn't there one image that's a foreign space craft firing disruptors at the space shuttle?

CMON! It can be anything from dust on the lens, bugs that maybe hitched a ride upon launch, or any amount of billions of pieces of debris in orbit. I believe in UFOs because of their definition: *Unidentified* flying objects. It's way way too presumptuous to say it's some alien craft.

Now, forgive me if I'm forgetting everything in the vid, but from what I recall and by playing back a few minutes of it just now, I see that UFO or 'unclassified object' is repeatedly used as the term to describe what was shown in the stills/footage. So, who exactly said it was alien craft? If you're referring to the tags, I was just being facetious. I think you are being presumptuous in assuming that's the only conclusion people will reach after watching this.

to me the outright dismissal of the idea that there could be alien beings outthere with ftl technology can also be interpreted as presumptuous. besides, presuming they do posess such superior technology, they could well be hidden from our sight, observing our actions since before we started nuking each other or polluting the universe with radio waves. as a matter of fact, they could well be running our governments and the global economy, which would certainly explain a lot of nonsense we're faced with these days. or don't you guys watch V ...

I'm one of those people that really thinks there is life out in the vastness of the Universe somewhere. The odds are just in favor of it. But I really don't know what to believe when I see these UFO videos and such. The majority of UFO sightings from earth are easily explained as mundane things. Planes, Stars, Planets, you name it. These videos shot from space though rule out a great many of the more realistic possibilities. However I always find a few big problems with any footage you see taken in space.

First: Why is the video quality always crappy. This is NASA we're talking about. They have access to the best technology in the whole world! But for some reason, any video they take of "unidentified objects" always looks like it was shot with a god damn cell phone.

Second: Most of the time, you have nothing to use as a reference point for size or distance. The background is often the moon or the earth and it is hundreds of miles away (if its the earth) or thousands of miles away if its the moon. That object passing in front of the camera could be 2 cm from the lens and the size of a pin head, or it could be miles away and the size of a football stadium, there's just no way to tell.

Third: Why is it that most of the footage just looks like crap floating past the camera. Isn't the most likely explanation because crap is floating past the camera? Space is filled with crap. Dust, little bits of meteorites and such. Some estimates suggest that 37,000-78,000 tons of space crap hit the earth every year. That's not counting all the garbage us humans have tossed into Low Earth orbit. A study in 1999 suggests that there is 4 million pounds of shit we left floating in orbit around earth. Some of these debris are whipping around the planet at 17,500 mph.

I find the possibility of life outside our own planet intriguing, and I really hope it's true. I also really hope that if life does exist out there, I live long enough for us to discover it. But as it stands now, I'm still pretty skeptical that they've ever been here.

A lot of the footage used was not recent, which would explain the lack of quality.

This is true. Although, there was the Tether Incident.

I agree, and a lot of it probably is just this. But there are curious anomalies, of which we can see a few in this video.

I agree much of it could be dust, photo imperfections, "known" space debris/junk etc. But what about the ones that take a "straight" course and then change direction. Clearly not an object in orbit. The one of the moon near the end, from the Italian tracking station struck me as "legit".

Though as someone else has already stated UFO is simply "unidentified" it is not evidence of aliens.

Good job. Point out that these are unknowns and any claim of certainty is unwarranted. Follow up with a claim of certainty.

I love how people are so quick to shoot down the idea these might be Aliens. I think at least a few of them are Alien spacecraft (or super-secret human spacecraft that have somehow been hidden from the media, which I think would be unlikely).

Aliens are here, watching us. And they can see you in the shower.

OMG OMG, we're under attack by lens flares, camera artifacts and space debris!!!!!
And lets not forget cosmic rays impacting highly sensitive CCD equipment. Or unfocused and overexposed dust/ice particles in the camera or just outside the lens.

I must admit, some of them are pretty strange though.
