Very funny, Humanists, as far as this video is concerned, believe in the expansion of participatory democracy, but also believe they must be responsible for themselves. "Let's elect officials to decide for us, and force anyone who doesn't like it to either leave or do what we want them to do. By the way, live free!" Promoting human evolution in the guise of removing choice and shackling those who truly want a better society with the chains of a democracy of stupid people doesn't seem to me to be very 'humanist'; rather it seems to be 'stagnationist' and 'de-evolutionist'.

Don't ban this Jeb, he/she/it was upfront and honest about the self-post...perhaps they can't read fine print....

Let them stay, I've never been a big fan of the banning. Maybe a last chance invocation should be created. Do it once and a polite message could be left. Again and you're out.

It says in RED clearly - "Please do not submit self-promotion of any kind."

I think we need to up the size to about 50 or maybe force unregistered users to read the posting guidelines for the first time they try to submit a video.

Allowing this to stay and we're on a slippery slope before we get actual subversive virals. And no these people aren't upfront, they just need to get viewership on their entry and are spamming the video on this site, you think that they want to stay and contribute to our lil' club? No way man.

I almost want to return it so I can down vote the early 90's renderings in the intro, can you say fugly lens flare? Also egads what was that soul wrenching acoustic, I must have this for my musaq collection.

Edit: Oh Noze, I didn't even get to the run down the beach at sunset, please let me vote on these cliches. On a more serious note, if this video is about humanism where am I supposed to get that, I could take the text out and make it about anything I want. This has all the makings of a valtrex ad, without the play by play of side effects.

Even if this person was upfront about it, why disregard the self-posting rules for a single case? And I don't think "Please do not submit self-promotion of any kind" in big, bold red letters can be considered "fine print" :-P

I just think it can get a bit harsh around here with all bannings. If someone posted a self link, then found out about the rule due to the warning, they would not do it again if they were genuine. If they just want to self promote they would either do it again (banned) or not bother.

However, rules are rules. It says on the submit video page in big red writing, and your also told to read the guidelines before you post. jeb obviously didn't.

NickyP, typically these hypothetical people email us with a pissed off response, we apologize profusely, and they occasionally become contributing members to the site.

Mostly though Farhad is right, anyone that signs up, doesn't vote on anything, doesn't comment anywhere, and just posts a video on that one day is typically not concerned about interacting with the group. We are just another stop on their current list of sites to spam.

Sorry for posting this video.I realize this video will get banned by reading your comments.I didnt think this was "self Promotion" as the general public does not vote or do anything for that matter that does anything to the outcome for this contest.I didnt think it was really a self promotion by any means,I just wanted to share a video that I made,that is all. This site is really,really nit-picky and people here seem overly critical and harsh.I cant even submit an original video,shot edited by me to be shown on here.I think it would be self promotion if veiwers had a hand in the outcome of this contest,but they dont.

It's a mistake JEB to debate the finer points of this community's rules after you have broken them. But - I agree that the ban hammer should only be used for egregious or repeat offenders. *discard
