At what point did "through" change from "throw" to "throo" and how is it pronounced in modern-day Great Britain? (You know, "daughters" used to be pronounced "dafters" in the US at least until 1800. [If you're interested in history, explore the diary of Martha Ballard.] I wonder when "laughter" will be pronounced "lotter.")
