Excellent clip, however, this is technically Drunken Master II. It was just re-branded for a re-release in the US.

The original DM was great. Much lower production values, but the actual old drunken master guy was a f'in hoot.

The final scene of this movie is the best fight scene ever recorded. (IMO)

FYI: Although it's obvious to most people: it should be noted that Jackie Chan and his friends COMPLETELY invented the drunken martial art. There are references in Chinese history to drunken fighters but the mythology and fighting styles in these movies were invented for the sake of the movie alone.

How much fun though

i dunno, theres more to it than just a reference to fighting drunk... i understand what you mean about how it's portrayed in the movie, though... theres no school of martial arts where students consume alcohol officially for any purpose of obtaining a form

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zui_Quan

"While in fiction, practitioners of Zui Quan are often portrayed as being actually intoxicated, Zui Quan techniques are highly acrobatic and skilled and require a great degree of balance and coordination, such that any person attempting to perform any Zui Quan techniques while intoxicated would be likely to injure themselves"
