E_Nygmait's amazing how these songs conjure up such vivid memories from the past. powerful, beautiful, and haunting... all at the same time.
lavollmy fav score of his is actually Geisha. Maybe the most non-williams score of the bunch
8578there is no debate? Tell that to Jerry Goldsmith.
The Omen
Alien
Planet of the Apes
Total Recall
Gremlins
Poltergeist
Capricorn One
Star Trek
Inner Space
The Waltons
MINKi have played half of these in a 400 piece orchestra in school, and i also attest to this non debate!
direpickleAs much as I love Williams, I'm going to have to say that he does have a little competition in Basil Poledouris as well.
Both Conans, Red Dawn, The Hunt for Red October, Robocop, Starship Troopers, and on and on.
Still, Williams probably wins.
spoco2Both of the other composers listed her... hmmm, let's put their themes up against William's themes in a popular recognition poll.
There's no competition at all, Williams has created more memorable/iconic movie themes than any other composer. There are other brilliant composers out there (I love Hans Zimmer's work), and there are themes which will be instantly recognizable to most people that are written by others. But a single composer writing so many themes that are so well known... come on, no contest.
