This just sounds like a blue on blue waiting to happen. How is civilians picking up arms in any way a good thing? Now instead of one centralized authority you have splintered tribes and factions that could start wars of dominion. And all of them are armed. I am sure though to chicken hawks this would seem like a success in the war, but then they are idiots.

Yep, this is gonna be a problem for us down the road. It was people like this who Bin Laden came from. He fought as a surrogate for our country in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union. It's also people like this who founded the death squads which killed civilians in El Salvador. This isn't gonna fix the problems in Iraq, it will end up making a very bad situation that much worse.

when was the last time US intervention in a foriegn country brought about stability? Most of our actions are intended to destabilize an area, not stabilize and grant autonomy.
