Indian Idol - Raja Hasan wins over all the judges

As well-known from my profile, "Chaiya Chaiya" is one of my favorite songs. Here's a show that appears to be much like "American Idol" in India and Raja (who didn't take first place but won plenty of fame nonetheless) covered "Chaiya Chaiya" to the utter delight of the audience and judges. Watch as the enthusiasm grows until the judges join him onstage to sing along.

Pretty cool. What's the British connection?

the competition - sa re ga ma pa 2007 - toured Britain. Thus I do not know if it was Indian as in "located in India" or Indian as in "of those who are descended from India"
They speak occasional British English on the clips of the show I've watched too. Leads me to believe the show originates from Britain.
