9547bissays..."The western domination is over."
Yep. Few people seem to realize that.
(Cue outrage reactions about how we're numbah one bro, don't you know.)
Sagemindsays...Okay - So it's true, We're getting poorer, Wile the Walton's (Walmart Family) and the Chinese are getting richer.
EMPIREsays...I actually like Hans Rosling, has he helps put a lot of things into proper perspective, but I just realized, that first graphic with the deaths from natural disasters is completely wrong.
At around the 2000 there's a slight bump, that seems to rise up to about 50,000 death/year, and then it lowers again...But in 2004 is when the Indian Ocean tsunami occured. At least 250,000 people died, which should have jumped the graphic way past where the "C." is.
Something is not right.
moduloussays...I'm guessing the data is from "THIRTY YEARS OF NATURAL DISASTERS
1974-2003: THE NUMBERS".Hoyois, P., Debarati Guha Sapir. Oxford University Press, 2012.

EMPIREsays...Maybe, but then that time line is really not to scale.
00Scud00says...I'm still not sure 10 dollars a day is something to get all that excited about, in America that's still pretty impoverished.
