How can anybody argue that this isn't torture?

Rachel Maddow on some of the recently released memos describing the "extended interrogation techniques".

Everyone who signed those memos should be subject to the specific techniques described. Every last signature as well as their sons and daughters.

I bet if we show up and tell them they are about to be water-boarded along with their children, they'll change their minds about whether there is long-term psychological and physical effects.

^No, that's not how to repsond to this. The point about torture is that noone should be practicing it, ever. Not as an interrogation technique, and not as a punishment.

What should be done, however, is to impeach these people so that we can ensure that they will not dictate policy in the future, and to punish those who deserve it with the sort of humane punishment that exists in the law.

I don't understand why this isn't a clear cut case where, as Rachel pointed out, these people who authorized these actions are subject to 20 years imprisonment.

I'm still baffled as to why Obama pardoned the people who carried out these torture sessions. 'Just following orders' is not an excuse. Shame on you Obama.

Also i want to say that I was and have been a strong Obama supporter for some time. I knocked on doors for about a week to help the campaign (pretty good considering i've never voted before this election). That's why I really don't understand the reasoning on this issue. He seems like such a level headed guy, why not follow the law on this occasion?

You are right, which shows why you shouldn't vote ponceleon in the next election... really you don't want any of that!
