AeroMechanicalsays...I was just wondering about this the other day. At the gas station I go to, some of the pumps have different nozzles for whatever reason. With the blue ones, it shuts off and won't give any more when my tank is only 3/4 full. With the green ones I can fill it up all the way. It's pretty annoying and didn't happen with my old car.
edit: Oh, and not that he necessarily is, but doesn't it strike you that the guy presenting comes off as a little too dim to be presenting this sort of video?
Guntersays...When my goddamn gas tank isn't full that's when it shuts off... fucking asshole gas pumps. I wanna turn a crank goddamnit make that shit overflow... this is murica!
aaronfrsays...Might be your bias against the Southern US accent.
Josh Clark also co-hosts the 'How Stuff Works' podcast and is a writer for their website. He is definitely not an expert on any of the stuff he discusses but he does pretty successfully convey sometimes complex information in a useful and entertaining way. The podcast is one of the most popular ones out there and I find it is a good way to kill 30 minutes learning something while cycling around town.

Asmosays...Threw me for a minute when he described the venturi effect as effecting fluids like gas...
(here in Aus we refer to it as petrol or fuel, gas is LNG or any other substance that is, ya know, a gas)
lucky760says...I've wondered that just about every time I've ever pumped gas, actually. I'm very happy to have seen this video.
@AeroMechanical - Yes, he struck me that way as well.
thegrimsleepersays...I've always wondered about this because it shuts off like 5 or 6 times every time I pump gas on my car! So annoying.
