Heavenly Sword & Demo Car - PS3 GDC 2006 - Incredible

I think you underestimate the world's gamers. Sure Wii will surely be extremely popular, however, the truly unbelievable, next-gen offerings from PS3 are sure to lure a hefty market share.

It's not too bad that of all the amazing realism in this demo the only hiccup is one of a door not reacting to a bullet's impact (and, of course, that a real, closed car door probably wouldn't swing open from being shot).

not very impressive...those bullet holes are not that much different than in most recent egoshooters...I expected something more like deforming parts of the car or something...

I'm not a fan of the PS3 anyway...I can think of better things to buy for 600 bucks...like 3 Wiis for example

Wooo sprites for bulet holes (with paralax mapping it seems).

The thing is that the moment you added AI to that field of people you'd get maybe 1-2 fps

Still looks very nice and is very impressive from a visual standpoint. Lets hope devs can turn good graphics into decent games and good performance. My prediction is that it will take at least 3 years to fully exploit all the power this console has to offer. Once that is done these early tech demos will look pathetic.

i´m surprised how sony is able to create a hype with nothing more than some graphics. i mean there´s no innovation. compared to wii it´s just a ps2 with better graphics. the guys at nintendo really brought something new.

it´s a pity graphics are more important to gamers than gameplay these days.

Games are just another form of entertainment. While peoples' tastes do vary, which special effects would you rather watch, Star Trek from the 60s or Battle Star Gallactica from 2007? This is more than just hype. There is room at the table for many forms of entertainment of which games with exceptional graphic detail is one of them.
