First patent in 1980, 6 years before the 1986 movie where they traveled back to 1986 to invent it! Apparently time line distortions go both ways on the time line!

All-time favourite moment from Star Trek. Forget all the battles with Klingons and dangleberries, this here was the pinnacle of Trekdom as far as I'm concerned!
