There is so much wrong with Beck it's amazing.

He tries to construct a difference between democracy and republic that simply does not exist. Comparing democracies and republics as he does is completely idiotic. The USA is a republic. It is also a representative democracy.

By American definitions (United States v. Cruikshank, etc.) a republic encompasses "equal rights of citizens" and "right of the people to choose their government". Democracy, on the other hand, is a political system in which the people control the government or choose their own government. You can have a democracy that isn't a republic but you can't have a (true) republic that isn't a democracy.

There's a lot more I could say, but I'll leave it at that for now... well, except to say I am so incredibly glad I live in Canada. We have our issues, but they seem a lot less serious after watching this stuff.
