"Gamer" - movie trailer starring Gerard Butler

The first trailer for Neveldine/Taylor’s R-rated “Gamer” movie has just hit the net (edit-apparently, it was leaked, and Lionsgate are trying to take it down). This is the film that used to be called “Game” and “Citizen Game”.

“Gamer” stars Gerard Butler, Michael C. Hall, Amber Valletta, John Leguizamo and Kyra Sedgwick.

At the center is Kable (300's Gerard Butler), the superstar and cult hero of "Slayers," the savage, ultraviolent first person shooter game. Kable is controlled by Simon, a young gamer with rock star status who continues to defy all odds by guiding Kable to victory each week. Taken from his family, imprisoned and forced to fight against his will, the modern day gladiator must survive long enough to escape the game to free his family, regain his identity and to save mankind from Castle's ruthless technology.

Yea, I don't expect it to suck, but first time watching it, my reaction was:

Ok, this looks good, yeah, I like what I see... OK, that's nice...
LUDACRIS.
Groan/facepalm.

I seriously have no clue why he's being cast in this many movies. I mean he was OK for Fast&Furious 2, but the rest of his 'roles' have been utter failures. Sigh.

In the beginning of the trailer I thought it might be about a real video game that's so realistic that it raises ethical concerns about the level of sentience of the NPCs (non-player-characters) that are being slaughtered in game. That might turn out to be quite an actionpacked AND thought provoking movie.
However it seems it's gonna be a silly action flick, which might make for a good popcorn movie.
