Not having seen the movie can I assume that dirty socialist traitor gets his comeuppance, and we learn a valuable lesson about not letting the commie leftist liberal pinkos mess with good old fashioned American capitalism?

Seems so quaint and hopelessly naive, almost like a fairy tale..

Modern version would be short. Right after "you could make a handsome profit on your stock," the bank owner would say "You make a good point. Merger it is!"

Alternative version for pre-2008 would involve allaying concerns about a defaulting Jones by purchasing Credit Default Swaps to cover the potential loss.

Also, Jones would be a hedge fund.
