Final Part of Ted Kennedy's Eulogy for Bobby

The press reported today that Ted Kennedy has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Hearing the news reminded me of what I think is one of the more moving moments in all of American political history: Ted's delivery of the eulogy at the funeral of his brother Bobby.

In this recording of the final section of that eulogy, he quotes excerpts from Bobby's famous speech to the students of a South African university in 1966. I think that was one of the finest speeches ever given by an American politician abroad, and the mix of passion and seriousness with which Ted recites the words of his fallen brother never ceases to bring me to tears.

I don't know if the music was in the original recording, but I actually considered not upvoting this very moving eulogy just because of the horribly intrusive, never brought to rest, tones.

"Few are willing to brave the disapproval of their fellows, the censure of their colleagues, the wrath of their society. Moral courage is a rarer commodity than bravery in battle or great intelligence. Yet it is the one essential, vital quality for those who seek to change a world that yields most painfully to change. And I believe that in this generation those with the courage to enter the moral conflict will find themselves with companions in every corner of the globe."

One with such a gleaming track-record in senate speaks of moral courage...hear his tumor has had it's own hippocampus for years, and has produced enough neurons and dendritic activity to keep his head alive-plans to place it in a jar on the senate floor wired with an voice-interface are already under way.....

(choggie, you sick puppy)

Though the trouble now is that we have a president without enough "intelligence" to accompany his "courage", or too much courage and too little intelligence.

we need change alright......be wary of anyone who prefaces some statement with, "I Believe"....

jwray, you still think the presidents have anything to do with their positions by way of votes?-Hope=pipedreams
pissing on any eulogistic masturbation for Ted K-canonize a family member who's wicks are un-dipped in blood, money, or privilege who have done something worthwhile in their tenure of "public service"...Ted's a worm. How do we know???
He's dying of natural causes.....

Choggie, whatever your political inclination is (you're a pessimistic anarchist by my eye), you really should try to hold your tongue when you feel compelled to insult the dead, and cheer on the illness in a surviving family member at the same time.

Most of the time you're easy to shrug off as a harmless loon, but your comments here are just disgusting, and if you had a shred of decency in you, you'd feel ashamed for posting it.
