It's a nightmare, and it got horribly political (hence the obvious political sentence). The bottom line was that strategic political relationships trump human rights. The Oz government backed away, and worse, used their media to cover their tracks. It is only now that bits of the truth are slipping out.

I would like to see a reputable source back up the facts stated on the site you linked to... if those things (regarding the drugs in particular, because that's the crux of it really, did she have them or not) are true, then yeah, the media did a huge disservice to her.

If you did, you will have seen that all the major points are externally referenced, and really not disputed. Or how about the human rights abuses: www.schapelle.net/report.html, also referenced? All that is ok by you is it? Nice.

I think it's a great video (and no, I didn't make it!). They way they've sync'd the footage with the lyrics isn't easy to do from my experience. And the news announcement overlay and Schapelle crying aren't on the original song, so they've integrated that very well.

My views on marijuana legalisation and the horrid manner in which Schapelle is being detained aside... it's pretty hard to overlook the fairly convincing evidence that she was knowingly attempting to traffik an illegal substance.

Ofcourse, I don't have all the facts and would happily consider any new information. But looking at your personal queue, I somehow get the feeling that you might not be one open to unbiased consideration of the facts.

From a read over of the wikipedia page, I read nothing that is a 'smoking gun' in terms of your KNOWING she is innocent.

I don't know if she is guilty or not, YOU do not know if she is guilty or not, and yet you're willing to spend a LOT of time shouting for her release.

As has been mentioned by many... SHE got a whole lot more attention and help than others almost purely on her looks... there are others who have had almost zero attention at all.

The sentence is utterly insane for possession of marijuana, but that's known before one enters the country. If she is guilty of having it, then there's no use crying about getting some huge sentence after the fact. But again, I don't know either way if she is guilty or not.

And neither do you.

The sources are extremely reputable, spanning everything from government reports to international media. Had you read it you would have seen that.

But of course effort "wastes your time", so instead you come back and quote the totally unreliable Wikipedia: which gets edited back any time any of the above is posted.

If I couldn't be bothered actually learning enough on a topic to post with authorityor sense, I wouldn't post. That is better than doing what you have done, which amounts to: 'I can't be bothered checking this out, but regardless here is what I think...".

There is no way she is guilty. Guilty people carrying marijuana don't slash the inner bag open before setting off to release the smell, they don't beg for the drugs to be tested for country of original (they were INDONESIAN FFS, which is why they burned them), they don't beg for DNA testing, they don't beg for fingerprints, they don't beg for CCTV footage when a pic of an inflated bag would hang them.... and much much more. That's even before you look at the show trial and the human rights and the government complicity.

So: CHECK IT OUT PROPERLY before infering guilt. To post like yours, basically suggesting to everyone that there is some credibility which justifies her slow killing is not very nice. You and others like you are part of the reason she is still there, and deteriorating daily.

What convincing evidence? There is none. This is why I feel reluctant now to post another video here. People say stuff like that and it's just mud, which sticks.

There is no evidence. Why don't you just do what I said to the other guy and actually READ the PDF. Why not read what happened at the show trial? Do this and arm yourself with facts, rather than inventing the lie that there is some form of evidence. There isn't... so why are you saying there is? It find it to be sickening to be honest.

And yes, I post Schapelle videos here. I am a jounalist, who has monitored this case and have been horrified. Is there a problem with that? If so, someone tell me, and I'll go and never return.

Yeah, I'm unconvinced and I will confess that I'm not going to read a 42 page document about it. The Corby's have tried several different explanations as to why Schappelle got caught, and they chop and change each time the story falls short. Like when they argued that it was Australian baggage handlers trafficking weed from Brisbane to Sydney - as if you wouldn't just drive it down there.

I feel badly that she's got the sentence she has, and I feel badly that her True Believers go to such effort for a lost cause, but I don't think the evidence is compelling enough that she didn't do it.

I think the media has given the story enough scrutiny, and if there was a story in there the Aussie trash media would invest a fair bit in uncovering it. The good news for True Believers is that if they're right, the media will get onto it.

I doubt this will be the end result, however.

You have no idea who I am. I posted a video, that's all. And back came some shallow guy couldn't even be bothered to read the basic information provided. Thus, no idea of the facts, the background, the politics, nothing. But STILL insisted on making offensive, cruel and absolutely misguided comments, on the basis of that zero knowledge.

I explained the obvious: don't make such forceful comments, especially nasty ones, if you are too lazy to check the actual facts and do the groundwork, but STILL you didn't buy it. STILL came the abuse.

Brilliant kymbos, great article. And it would seem the person mentioned in that article is none other than Zeus here, being that the same sort of language and quick to anger tripe was sent to them too.

There's no getting through to them that they are going about their 'awareness campaign' in entirely the wrong manner, and verbally assaulting people and insulting their compassion is a zero win tactic.
