This is slightly off-topic, but I have to admit that I can no longer hear the word "pipeline" without thinking of There Will Be Blood.

Ok, follow me on this one....

- Dolphins "surf".
- Dolphins are known to masturbate by rubbing up against sharks (sharks have abrasive skin).
- Sharks attack human surfers.

Perhaps the shark is simply mistaking the surfer for the dolphin that gave him a pearl necklace a couple days ago.
