One of the best intros to a Video Game ever.

I've been playing through this game again. I have my issues with it, but the intro is totally great.

RTS games have really evolved since. Especially with Company of Heroes.

The intro was done by Blur Studios, whenever you see a game with an impressive cinematic, it's probably them. You can read up on the development of this cinematic at CG Society.

Wow, thanks for the links. These guys have made some truly excellent animations; I wouldn't have guessed the same people made In the Rough. That article calling Space Marines "the heroes of Warhammer" though, grrr.
