I feel ya, it is like I understand less now. I had a picture in my mind how it worked, now that is gone and I am left with nothing, NOTHING!

On the far right is the clutch plate that mates the power from the engine to all those gears. The power comes in on the bottom teeth and then those syncros mate different gear combinations to different output speeds.
