fiction or non-fiction? I'm having a really hard time telling.

I'm not at all sure how it could possibly be useful, without some way for him to tell -which- color/object was being played. And nothing shown here would seem to have that capability.

Of course, if it's fiction, then I'm obviously overthinking...again.
