Coal Black: Context

choggiesays...

again, the word ":snuff" referring to

the killing for profit, with he intent of expectation of the same, and the dissemination there-of, the so-called "snuff" film, being birthed as same from such point as the 1st person with knowledge of same, perceives it as such,pre-meditated murder for profit or otherwise intangible gain per perceiver....is not this!

choggiesays...

so snuff sucks, in other words, as a reliable, universal, desciptive term in a rule book, where other sentiments are lumped in, as a bandaid for all that woulda shoulda coulda offend!!

this is the history of humanity, huMANS!

What I don't understand is all the people here that don't want to see this sort of thing or who wanted Coal Black and the Sebbin Dwarves removed or banned. Should we just sweep everything under the carpet? Should we just try to forget how it used to be and how far we've come?

We're talking about deep deep DEEP racism that used to be in this country...and in my lifetime. Yes, in my lifetime there used to be places in this country where you couldn't even register to vote because of the color of your skin. Racism exists today for sure, but not on the level like what you see here an in that cartoon. Racism today seems to consist of not being able to get a cab or someone using the "N" word in a comedy club. Back then it was totally blatant and in your face with lynchings...actual murdering of someone because of their skin color with no arrests being made of the lynchers, even though you had witnesses and as we see here, photographs of the people who did it. The media back then wouldn't even give it a mention. Today if something remotely racist happens it's front-page story. Again, don't get me wrong...discrimination and racism still exist. But we have come a LONG way in a relatively short span of time.

Yet some here want to cover it up it seems. Don't show it. We don't want to see it. Let's forget all about it.

nice comment, goofball.

The tension with this site has always been how much extreme
content/blood/massacre/ugliness/hawtness do you allow without violating the posting guidelines. And when content is challenged, the 1st Amendment hackles of many members are naturally raised. Yet, there are the 'murder/snuff' and ' making fun of races' guidelines for this site.

Personally, I think that all of it (other than the pr0n) should be voted upon. If the post survives and produces a good comment thread, then the site is working well.

If this is publishable the Zapruder film should be put back for the same reasons that Goofball feels that this shouldn't be swept under the rug.

Zapruder gets swept under that rug and Saddam getting hung makes people attempt bannations. Yet photos of nameless black men getting tortured and murdered gets put on a pedestal because of "historical context that we can't turn away from."

Zapruder and Saddam have historical context that can't be looked away from, they matter to history just as much as any of these photos. Way to enforce a blatant double standard. If this is allowed...bring back Zapruder and Saddam. If not, continue being hypocrits and have good luck with it.

LadyBugsays...

what is so sad to me is not only did these men and women have to die, they were tortured in the moments leading up to their death.

watching this for even a few moments brings to the forefront the plight of the african americans in our country today.

sad.

James Roesays...

for what it's worth i supported keeping the zapruder film around. The Saddam film though is really just snuff fetishism. The only reason it was made in the first place was so that angry religious sects could broadcast their triumph to their brothers.

wildmanBillsays...

I can understand your point, James Roe, about the Saddam video. But my point here is that this video is also snuff fetishism, only because it has a an emotionally flighty song in the background do you people think it isn't. I guarantee you that around the world this video and the pictures within it are helping a billion klan members jack off right now and shout "Those were the Good ole Days". And by posting and upvoting this video, the Sift is helping all those Aryan f*cks get off right now and feel good about themselves. Shame on those who support this crap. And Ladybug, do you really think that African-Americans want to be specifically remembered as the race that was dragged through the mud, tarred and feathered, burned out of their homes, lynched (I could go on) no and their are better to celebrate Black History Month and the "plight of African Americans today". All this video promotes is hate and Billie Holliday, and sifters are putting too much stock into the artistic talents of Holliday to raise this vile and offensive video above the label of perverted snuff.

Strange Fruit lyrics (based on the poem by Lewis Allen)

Southern trees bear strange fruit,
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root,
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze,
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.

Pastoral scene of the gallant south,
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth,
Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh,
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh.

Here is fruit for the crows to pluck,
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck,
For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop,
Here is a strange and bitter crop.

They don't call you wildman for nothin'. It is a song about these lynchings. If there was a Aryan NAtion, Scissorfight, or Robbie Williams song playing along with it or the Merrie Melodies theme (which you upvoted), then I would be with you.

You should see how Lars von Trier uses these images at the end of Manderlay. Now THAT is provocation.

wildmanBillsays...

Don't start talking about my voting habits here. I don't support perverted snuff, and song or no song this video is perverted snuff and you sicken me with your ongoing defense of it.

I'm done here, don't want to waste anymore time with this nonsense. I hope you all enjoy "rallying" around this video.
