FACT: America was not founded on the principles of christianity.the founding fathers were deists,NOT theists.
and for mr blackwell to regale in the fact that in the late 70's early 80's many evangelical TV preachers joined with a little known political group known as "the neo-conservatives" is just repugnant.
to even infer that the "25 years of religious growth" was somehow good for this country makes me livid.for almost 200 years religion and politics remained relatively separate until that unholy union of televangelist and neo-con,which hi-jacked a party and drove it straight into the ground.

I love how Blackwell says that the phrase "we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal" is based on Judeo-Christian values. There is nothing further from the truth. The Jewish god is very quick to call for genocide against anyone who isn't a Jew... that's hardly equal. The Christian god repeatedly calls for slaves to obey their masters and for women to obey their husbands. Slavery was largely defended with passages from the Bible. Then there is the whole idea that those who aren't Christians burn in hell for eternity... that sounds very equal to me. I guess some are more equal than others .
