Noam Chomsky's Lecture at the University of Tennessee. January 25, 2011.
vaporlocksays...

I only had to read 3 of the "200 lies" to see that the person who wrote it has never really read, nor understood, Chomsky... except maybe in-order to get his 'out of context' quotes.

I've been following Chomsky for over 20 years and you'd be hard pressed to come up with something on him. He has been intellectually consistent and on-topic since the 70's. He was against the slaughter of peasants in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Nicaragua, East Timor, Iraq, Palestine, and every other hidden murder zone in the last 50 years.

When the "200 lies" start with Chomsky's take on Lenin, the author's already proven himself to be a moron. Chomsky's only downside is that he bores people who aren't intellectual enough and infuriates people who are brainlessly patriotic.

Oh, that's right, it's FOX that has an agenda.

How come that quantumushroom link are all of imaginary Noam Chomsky's quotes ? Did you even bother read it? Sorry to say but that pdf file is absolute rubbish.
Nice try, though.Do you work for a PR company or are you absolutely stinking rich? If the answer is negative, let me tell you that you are working for your own demise.

Let's look at the very first "lie" in that list:

The "Lie": “in comparison to the conditions imposed by US tyranny and violence, East Europe
under Russian rule was practically a paradise.”

The "Truth": The communists murdered 4 million people in the Ukraine; 753,000 in Poland;
360,000 in Romania; 300,000 in Belarus; 200,000 in Hungary; 100,000 in East Germany;
100,000 in Lithuania; 70,000-100,000 in Yugoslavia; 30,000-40,000 in Bulgaria; 20,000 in
Czechoslovakia; and 5,000 in Albania. Other atrocities included the murder of over 500,000
POWs in Soviet captivity and the mass rape of at least 2 million women by the Red Army.

I don't have to know anything about the context of the quote to see that the response is nonsense. Nowhere in that quote does Chomsky say that the Russians did not commit any atrocities. He also did not claim that the US committed more genocidal acts than the Russians. He said "conditions", which most people would understand meant things like running water, sewage removal, food and shelter availability, employment availability, and such. So the whole list of atrocities is missing the point of his statement entirely.

Now maybe the conditions were arguably better under US control. I certainly don't know. But the fact that the very first "lie" is so poorly refuted, and the fact that there is absolutely no context around Chomsky's quote given, makes this list entirely pointless.

And I would also ask what you think Chomsky's "agenda" is.

Using a catastrophic incident to promote a political agenda. But I like his message against US jingoism among other things he talked about. Also agree that the corporations are undermining free markets by creating uninformed consumers, also they use government subsidies and protective legislation to undermine those markets. He failed to mention that last part.

Smugglarnsays...

Then again, I just saw Real Time with Bill Maher where two of the guests championed creationism. Hatred of such a country can be justified - but then you would be just as juvenile as Chomsky.

>> ^Smugglarn:

His vitriol against the country in which he lives is approaching a level that is truly pathetic.
He has a few points yes, but since he never shuts up that is inevitable.

Way to post that pdf in every video about Chomsky, and hide when someone points out that its full of shit. Go back to posting inane, pun riddled one liners; your ad hominem attacks makes FOX news look classy and intelligent.

It takes less time to shoot a mugger than explain to him why his actions are morally wrong.

Facts are to liberals what DDT is to bugs. If you are over age 25 and still believing the likes of Chumpsky, you are one of those Lincoln referred to as "some of the people fooled all of the time."

BTW your "anti-capitalist" hero is worth 2 million dollars, which he hid in a trust to avoid taxation---taxation he demands for everyone else.

Please, qm, spray us with some facts. I doubt you know what they are, though. You've proven you don't understand the concept of truth, lies, and evidence. Every time someone challenges your bullshit you change the subject.

Keep repeating the lie. Maybe eventually you'll believe it.
