McCain turning a page now?

On the verge of defeat, maybe he is having second thoughts about the bullshit smears and hate he has been promoting. He was a good man once.

"McCain's attacks fuel dangerous hatred

John McCain: If your campaign does not stop equating Sen. Barack Obama with terrorism, questioning his patriotism and portraying Mr. Obama as "not one of us," I accuse you of deliberately feeding the most unhinged elements of our society the red meat of hate, and therefore of potentially instigating violence."

This is a great clip. Makes me feel a bit better after this terrible week of mudslinging divisiveness coming out of the McCain camp. I am not so crazy for Obama, but I know he's a better candidate than someone who is willing to fan the flames of anger and hatred amongst the mobs.. Some of that stuff at Palin's and McCain's rallies was truly terrifying.

Even if McCain opposes this rhetoric, which I believe he does somewhere underneath his desperation, the fact that he has lost control of his supporters does not look good for his leadership skills. Aside from anything else, Obama has the ability to work a crowd and maintain a level of dignity at the same time. If McCain cannot put a stop to the angered frenzy of his crowds, I'm sure that the Republicans on the outskirts are questioning his ability to lead a nation.
