Well BillO, if we just kept religion separated from state, then there wouldn't ever be a problem of having to decide what is or is not allowed to be displayed in association with the holiday.

The truth is that Santa Claus and the commercialization of Christmas has made it a secular holiday that even atheists celebrate. Christmas being a federal holiday is likely to also have been a contributing factor since most employers give a day off for it; might as well celebrate something with your holiday.

So, I'll be the first to apologize to you for stealing your religious holiday and celebrating it in a secular manner. But don't misunderstand me, because I don't really feel that bad at all about doing it. After all, the true origin of the holiday had nothing to do with Jesus Christ; the holiday was stolen by Christians as well.

Now, if I was the only one, I would completely agree that the sign is inappropriate and should be taken down. However, as the number of people who celebrate the holiday in a secular manner increase, it is only inevitable that if Christians are allowed to show off statements of their belief, that others who celebrate the holiday should also get to show statements of their beliefs.

Bottom line, lose the nativity scene, lose the atheist sign, keep the tree, and add a plastic Santa Claus, and lets keep it neutral and unbiased.

If you're version of the country doesn't include and allow Atheists to voice their viewpoints, it NEEDS to get flushed down the toilet, Bill O.

Contrary to the Jesus nutters the founding fathers were deists, that is they believed in a divine natural creator being, not the supernatural Abrahamic God. The US became "founded on Christian beliefs" about 15 years ago when the fundamentalist Christian Fascists decided to hijack the country.

I agree with Flood, get rid of the nativity and there's no reason for the sign.

Nativities belong in front of churches, not inside(or on the grounds of) government buildings.

I think you used to be able to vote on dead vids in vs4.2 as well. Sometimes you can still watch dead ones, embedding disabled by request for instance. The new feature in vs5.0 is that you can now upvote killed vids
