I was over at the family's house the other night and spilled the salt during dinner. Jokingly we briefly talked about which shoulder one was supposed to toss over to prevent bad luck. One of my family (they're all very christian) said "Well it doesn't matter, we're not superstitious anyway." not 3 seconds later, remarking on the hard rain we just had the same person pipes up with "Don't you like how God watered your lawn today?"

The very idea these 2 statements could be made in that space of time and nobody even paused a heartbeat to consider how silly it was astounds me.
