Man, Japan really can out crazy any other nation in the world without even trying.

The U.S. trying to make crazy shit like this is sort of like man trying to fly like the birds.. best we can do is a hang glider or airplane, which works, but it's nothing like what comes naturally to a bird.

So is this one of those things that is awesomely nonsense because it is taken out of context or is the whole movie this crazy?

The excerpts of the monster fights are all like this, the rest of the film is all an in-depth interview with the hero, prior to his transformation when he is needed to ward-off visiting monsters....his day to day routine, which is relatively mundane and slow-paced, with a spattering of funny moments.
