Only with an articulation of human well being of the kind Sam Harris proposes can the intellectually sufficient groundwork be laid for atheism as a way of life.

He is exactly correct about the falseness of the fact-value distinction. The notion of a fact-value distinction was alien to ancient philosophy--and the Greeks and Romans were better thinkers for it!
