First a lovely piano rendition from Chris Garneau in a noisy Paris Cafe. Pretty good, right? Then we hear it from the sad, stabbed heart of Mr. Smith, and realize the former barely manages to carry Elliot's dim torch. "Something easier" said Mr. Garneau.

Beautiful, beautiful music. Reminds me of the quieter Rufus Wainwright or Ben Folds songs, and of Lay Your Head Down by Peter Bradley. I prefer the first version, but the second is very good too.

I've always thought it takes balls on a man's part to sing falsetto. Gorgeous all around. RIP Elliot. Makes me want a cigarette, and I quit years ago.

i'm only upvoting for elliott's original version. garneau just doesn't cut if for me on this one, even though he sounds like St. Vincent when he sings in falsetto (which i actually think is kinda creepy)
