I think someone else did submit the series' opening theme, which, as you said, is different than this.

I need to go back and watch the original series, if only because I love the new one so much.

I wish the theme song was somewhat more present in the new series.

I <3 Edward James Olmos. He makes the show in spite of crappy Starbuck "revisioning" trying to destroy the show from the inside. I think she has to be a Cylon because of how horrible and distracting she is from a good show and good acting.
