Negative voting is useful for when you find something that you really don't like. It's also helpful for us if you negative vote videos that don't belong here. This includes things that violate the posting guidelines (eg. self-links) and duplicate posts.

I also agree with this sentiment.

edit: There are not enough people voting up to offset a single down-vote. By using the down-vote, one reduces the lifespan of that post which in turn reduces the probability that it will be watched by other voting members. This is a necessary feature in the case of a post you feel strongly should not belong on the frontpage, but democracy does not work very well with an uninformed voting populace.
