Video Flagged Dead

An Anti-Libertarian (& Noam Chomsky) Critique

dystopianfuturetodaysays...

Alright you sanctimonious bastard. Let's take this naïve mess apart.

Fail #1 The youtuber uses a building in undemocratic North Korea as his example of a state funded structure, idiotically ignoring much more apt and numerous comparisons in Europe or America. Beyond that, how is comparing two buildings supposed to prove such an enormous and complicated point. *dumb

Fail #2 The Chomsky quote seems to be pretty clear. To think that libertarianism is some how exempt from influence or corruption is.... wait for it.... naïve. OMG! Chomsky supports the estate tax!!! Tyranny!!!!! Everybody panic!!!

Fail #3 Taxes = STEALING! (if libertarians ever release a KTEL greatest hits album, this should be the lead track)

Why is it that libertarians can't even put together a single compelling youtube video? Is this indicative of how they would run a nation? Why would I ever put my faith in them?

Final thought: I have no doubt that the libertarian dream of a perfect society is a beautiful thing. If I could live in blankfist's brain (not the rape or cat fart sections), I'm sure it would be AWESOME!!! The problem is that this is a naïve fairy tale.

Sorry blanky, but you asked for it. Tough love.

The point of the skyline of Shanghai is vacuous. What is the point? I have seen both sides of the river in Shanghai, and in a city of over 20 million, there are plenty of examples of shining modernity and squalid poverty.

I have to agree that this guy, at least, has an oversimplified view of how the world really works. The "free market" seems to be a deus ex machina to these folks. What defines the "free market"? When you get down into the weeds, it's not such a straightforward answer. For example, the speaker expresses some opposition to corporations. I would like to query him on how the "free market" would operate without the investment/risk diversification provided to investors by corporations.

meh../shrugs.
this guy admonishes the youtuber for using straw man arguments, then proceeds to make his points by using?.....you guessed it.
very over-simplified premise and i actually agree with many libertarian points.
then again, how much can you convey in an 8 min vid?

Wow for once a british voice actually pissed me off. I think it's his apathetic tone.

I understand why people don't want to pay for services -- The misappropriation of funds due to lack of transparency, and the sheer size of the number of transactions, makes it impossible to really know anything.

It is not an insurmountable problem. I'm pretty sure you could do it with PeopleSoft and some fancy SQL work. If you could follow that 2 cents to where it goes, you could then make the claim it was wasted.

I'll never understand why people don't get the connection between the insane gas prices last year and taxes:

One is willing to pay a random, exorbitant increase...for nothing... but won't... if it specifically goes to local services. Transparency will take care of this problem. "wow i helped to fund that". Pride may well ensue.

The problem now is NO ONE knows anything about anything, at all, when it comes to where the money comes and goes. No one. Not the government, and certainly not citizens who barely have time to stop working long enough to watch the evening news.

It would be a true wonder we got this far on the backs of honest hardworking people... if those same people weren't purposely misinformed to allow perpetual abuse of their funds.

We all know generally where the problem is: Military spending and no bid contracts. But what can we do about it when fear is such a strong .. commodity... for the dishonest among us?

I for one, have conceptualized a "truth machine", which, while not detecting lying humans by their physiological responses... would capture, catalogue, and be able to cross index and recall data and facilitate only logical discourse between all people. It will put a stop to people who can speak with golden tongues, or contradict themselves and pretend they didnt, or who make illogical assertions based on fear, by allowing instant recall of data. It involves digital recording and an element of human indexing of data -- very similar to what we have on videosift, in that there is a wealth of data on many things that can be recalled to some extent to prove and strengthen positions. One must be able to say, NO that is WRONG. And here is irrefutably why.

A lofty goal, but then again I am a computer science major in an age of unprecedented techonological advancement. With Obama's encouragement of education and sciences, along with SSD technology and exponentially better and cheaper tech... the manipulation of data by the dishonest will come to an end. All people must be connected and able to access all data to make the best decision.

It will be done. Of course, a real truth machine would be cool too. Read the book of the same name. Really fucking great.

oh hang on let me preempt and diffuse QM.. he'll like this:

"that wont work. you're all stupid. dont you know anything. you're all morons. only i know the truth. but don't ask me about it."

pretty good huh? essentially his every post in summation. but he's not a troll, noooooo.

It's so simple! SSD technology will change human nature!

You're in your death throes QM. Remember the cleansing has begun.

Thanks for your helpful critiques and ideas once again. Dghandi actually offered to help with coding... but you are a true revolutionary. You just make fun of an idea because you're scared and mad no one likes you. It's sad but annoying beyond belief.

Why can you never think of any ideas by yourself? Because you don't really believe what you say? Well then there is no reason not to ban you.

Oh yea.. fuck off. SSD's are but one of the neato things that didnt exist at the capacity and price they do now a few years ago. They could indeed help change the world.

So, back to trolling on things you (think) you know about. Loser. I know someone like you can never think of anything original, so it makes you upset that you are so worthless... but even a shit head like you could shut up and at least let the people who are willing to do the work hash out ideas.

Is that really too much? to not run your mouth when the adults are talking? Mommy didnt give you enough attention? What exactly is your medical condition. I know you have one, because you are fucking insane at the least. Tell me and maybe i can understand why you spew hate and fear like people need more of those things. Please, try.

Please everyone, i beg you to ban this asshole, and myself, and take back your sift. I've never been more serious.

I'd like to point out that Libertarianism in America is much different than Classic Libertarianism in Europe which is closer to Anarchism, which is also what Noam Chomsky supports.

EDIT: Furthermore I've read a LOT of Chomsky, he had a clever way of explaining corporate tyranny. First of all a Corporation is top down format, completely undemocratic. Secondly we don't live in a Free Market society, but one of the most protectionist in the world with subsidies for big corporations constantly, basically we live in a Corporate Welfare state. Also corporations doing advocate "Choice" they pigeonhole you into specific choices. Take LA, if I want to get around in LA a fairly large area I have a choice, get a car. It's the only realistic choice...and although I have hundreds of different cars to choose from I can't choose say, the old public transportation trolley system. Because it was bought up by the oil companies and dismantled. They now count on me to buy a car (hopefully a big one) so I can buy tons of their gas.

As to the allegations of Chomsky in a tax hideout and such. I read the article and it seems very attack oriented, not even allowing him to speak for himself but instead breaking down what I'm sure was a lengthy response and filtering it for the reader to achieve the desired effect.

I have no patience for anti-government types. Go live your libertarian / anarchist dream in Somalia.

Classic Libertarians and Anarchists are actually in favor of a very strong government that's run by the people. Libertarians in America are not like that in the least, no one would want to live in an American Libertarians World, it would collapse immediately.

oh hang on let me preempt and diffuse QM.. he'll like this:

Let me remind you, poopsy, you're the little gremlin who called me out FIRST, so you reap what you sow.

I don't disavow your enthusiasm. The SSD remark was shorthand to suggest that there is no technology or amount of "truth", education, whatever to create a socialist utopia, which will never be real until AI-machines take over, and at which point life won't be worth living anyway.

Transparency is no ultimate solution. It just means we can all look through the bay window of the U.S. Treasury and watch Obamarx and Geithner sneak around wearing black eyemasks as they loot the place. There is already tons of information about this lawless Administration and the incompetence and waste of government at all levels, but without a real media in place to challenge them, it makes little difference. The truth never set anyone free.

Liberty is what allows the toleration of fools, especially the ignorant-of-history, power-hungry fools running the schools, government and Hollywood. The very free market that created all this wealth they want to redistribute, they're not grateful for that, nor for the right to spout off at people too polite to kill them, but as the Big Government noose tightens, these tyrants are going to find out how much Revolution there is in real patriots.

If liberty is in its death throes, moonbats will soon find themselves flopping into mass graves right behind it. The commies always kill the so-called smartest first, teachers and intellectuals and other "big thinkers" are the first to go. Ever read 1984? In some ways, the quarter-aged of this generation are very much like Syme, an over-educated Big Bro Believer who delighted in thinking about the future of Thoughtcrime. His very intelligence made him a target and he got disappeared.

Tubes, you're desperate to have me banned? You don't even see the irony in that: a peace-loving, freedom-liking liberal like yourself demanding voices of opposition be silenced? Is it you're not used to being challenged or having your dogma challenged? I don't fear you or your ideas, I've outgrown them. Don't you know the internets is where everyone doesn't agree with you all the time?

Attacking me on a personal level reveals your immaturity. Either you'll outgrow it or you'll become another Noam Chumpsky, that charming fascist fraud.

--------------------

I'm fed-up with these America-hating pissants. Not their beloved fey, patty ass, NPR, reality-challenged Wimpmerican dream, the REAL America where not everyone has a happy ending and life is risk, and people own and shoot guns, smoke, drink and eat junk food. The Libertarians are right 90% of the time. They're not for anarchy, they're for CHOICE, and they reasonably accept that there are some people who are too stupid to live and no matter what you do FOR them, no matter how many government programs you create, they're just dumb and will kill themselves with bad decisions. Just like they do now in Obamarx' socialist prison.

There are also lots of intelligent people who ruin their lives with ONE bad decision, but that's what FREEDOM is: the freedom to fail and to fuck up. Socialists want a safe, predictable world (that they run). Maybe that works for Europe (dying and turning Muslim) but not for the USA.

The 2008 (P)resident IMO is an affirmative action asshole who sneaks smokes, kisses the asses of tyrants and complains about the price of arugula to his Teleprompter. I'm ashamed of the United States being led by these cowardly pukes. They're not America, they're some marxist kollij professor's wet dream of a sterile, safe America that does nothing, is nothing. There are no pioneers, explorers, daredevils in this bunch. This gang of sniveling bureaucrats would never have the guts to board the Mayflower or drive a covered wagon out West. Fuck 'em.

The libertarian and his cousin the conservative are NOT anarchists. They demand what the Constitution created: a limited government that is answerable to its own laws and to the people, and a federal government with power checked by the power of the States. Perfection doesn't exist.

Enjoy your safe, timid and guaranteed brief time running the show, moonbats. Your America is not the real America.

I'll be waiting for a reboot of the present unsustainable Lie that has replaced liberty. The Russians could only bear 80 years of bullshit. May America put up with only 3 more.

In his second State of the Union address, President Barack Obama called on Americans to reclaim our identity as a people who "do big things" and pledged new federal investment, particularly for scientific research.

We'll invest in biomedical research, information technology and especially clean energy technology. ... We're telling America's scientists and engineers that if they assemble the teams of the best minds in their fields, and focus on the hardest problems in clean energy, we'll fund the Apollo Projects of our time.
