https://DG.lnk.to/adastra The film Ad Astra centres around a journey both in the physical dimension of space as well as the psychological dimension of its lead character, astronaut Roy McBride played by Brad Pitt.
The music was composed to illustrate the cinematic experience as well the journey itself. While drafting the score Richter recalled NASA’s Voyager Interstellar Mission, launched in the late 1970s. Converting the plasma wave data, detected and transmitted by the Voyager probes as they passed planets in our Solar System, Richter converted these into sounds used in his composition.
In the film, during moments when astronaut Roy McBride passes certain locations on his way towards Neptune, Voyager probe data from the corresponding locations was employed in the composition.
