He just fumbled his stock answer. Shoulda said, 'our government decided that we need to do this in order to maintain confidence in the European finance sector. A sector that we heavily invested your pension funds in.' - something along those lines anyway.

God, I love Mr. Brown for this. I love someone refusing to play along, and calling people out on their bullshit (No, I won't pass the mike, because that's a game you play so I can't follow up to the non-answer I'm about to receive). He still didn't really get an answer, but he made it plainly clear that there was no honest answer the people in power were willing to give.
