djsunkidHa!
Four on The Floor was the name of this show, and it was based on an earlier series of radio comedy called Frantic Times. Frantic Times ran from the late 70s to the early eighties, weekly on CBC radio. I have a huge collection of the episodes on MP3 from back in the Audio Galaxy days.
Four on the Floor only ever produced a very few episodes in the late 80s, and I think I'm begining to understand why.
I have a recording of the original Last Will & Testament Sketch as it aired on CBC back in the 80s. The radio version is actually funnier in this case. They really lost the sense of comedic timing that is so important in the video version. I wonder if they weren't trying to turn a 5 minute sketch into a 2 minute sketch in order to cram more into their timeslot or something similar. Or possibly just that CBC wasn't good enough at editing yet?
By the time Kids in The Hall came around, they had comedic timing down pat for video, but The Frantics ship had already sailed.
Good sift! I wish I had thought of it!
