In many things that require you to spin around, they teach you to do something called spotting. You pick a point in front of you to focus on and you keep your head pointed at it until the rotation of your body requires you to turn it. Then you snap your head all the way around to refocus on the point as quickly as possible.

In dance/ballet this helps to minimize dizziness. In martial arts this also helps you hit your target with any sort of spinning or turn-around attack.
