2010: The Year We Make Contact.

2010 was a great sequel to the Kubrick masterpiece. It was certainly quite a bit less psychedelic, but presented many interesting questions about the nature of intelligence, humanity and the meaning behind existence. Presented to honor Roy Scheider, who died 2 days ago.

Love this movie. One of a very small number of truly "hard" sci-fi flicks to come out of Hollywood. Although the effects never looked as good as 2001, this movie is aging very well and does not seem too dated.

I Love the entire 2001 story and mythos. Too bad it's way too murky and demanding for most people to bother with. I for one don't find it all that unlikely that there are "sentinels" monitoring our species to check on our progress and perhaps even occasionally nudge evolution forward.
