Lucky said the same. I am waiting for another user with his/her Camino browser. I reproduced it in Mozilla's Firefox v2.0.0.20 with the latest Flashblock extension as well. Same old problem.

Hmm, that's strange- I don't think we've made any updates for a couple of weeks. I'll check with L.

You broke the Flashblock embedded videos with the GUI changes. I have to click twice to see Flash videos. It started yesterday.

Hey there. Are you seeing the Flashblock double clicking again? It seems to have started yesterday.

In reply to this comment by fford:
I don't know how it relates to Firefox, but Camino is currently (v 1.6.8) based on the Mozilla/Gecko 1.8 branch. Camino 2.0 will be based on Mozilla/Gecko 1.9. An interim update is due sometime soon which is supposed to update the included version of Flashblock to 1.5.11. Hopefully that will fix it, and hopefully it happens soon. I can't live without Flashblock.

In reply to this comment by ant:
Interesting. Camino is based on Mozilla's Gecko. Is it using Firefox v2's old engine? I know Firefox v3 and the newer Flashblock extensions don't have problems. Even SeaMonkey v2 beta 1 has no problems. Must be an old version issue.

In reply to this comment by fford:
campionidelmondo responded with some really useful information. I don't know anything about SeaMonkey, but my browser, Camino, integrates Flashblock. In other words, it's not a plugin, so I can't update the version myself. I have to wait for them to release the next version of Camino.

CNET reviews Windows 7

demon_ix says...

^Deano - File system is still NTFS, but the search works well enough for me whenever I use it. User data is still in the documents\music\pictures\videos folder format, with a downloads one added.
I come from XP, so I love how all the names are shorter and space-free now (c:\users\username\documents instead of "c:\documents and settings\username\my documents", but that's true in Vista as well, I hear), although it mostly affects scripting and command line stuff, and the goal of windows is that the end user doesn't have to do that, as I see it.

Another feature I love, is the ability to mount VHD files as local drives, and the fact that windows backup uses .vhd format now. What this means, basically, is that instead of the crummy old ntbackup utility, and the .bkf files you could only open with ntbackup, you can now open backup files as though they were folders and browse for the file you need. Seems minor and a "why wasn't this the way it worked until now?!?" thing, but I can see myself working with backups and virtual machines heavily in the near future, and having the ability to manage them without 3rd party tools makes a world of difference.

Windows is also making strides in the management direction, with Powershell, making V2 work with network machines, and making scripting so much simpler than the current VBScript environment. But that's a story Linux fanboys would appreciate more (and yell that no matter what, bash > that).

^dgandhi, the version the CNET guy reviewed is the Release Candidate, which came a while after the vulnerability was discovered, I know, but is still not the actual retail version, so it might be fixed there, as far as he knows. We'll have to wait and see.
I can always cite the Apple SMS vulnerability patch as being their standard for moving fixes up the priority ladder (ie. Keep it in the to-do list until it either becomes public knowledge or gets exploited too often to ignore).

I talk too much. Or type. w/e.

I tried disabling JavaScript, and it disables FlashBlock extension. Heh! I wonder how to disable JS resize only. I found resize and move window option, but that's not it.

Yeah, SeaMonkey is a suite and I still like suite format for e-mails, newsgroups, Web browsers, etc. It's basically like old Netscape suites that I grew up with.

In reply to this comment by campionidelmondo:
I suspect that the resizing js is causing this behaviour, but it's weird that Google Video and ComedyCentral are not affected by this.

I'm gonna look into it as soon as I get the chance. How come you're using SeaMonkey anyways? I downloaded 1.1.17 to check out this bug when you first reported it. Even uninstalling an addon required a separate addon. What's the upside?

Thanks for your help

In reply to this comment by ant:
SeaMonkey v1.1.17 and FlashBlock v1.3.14. I can't use newer FlashBlock since older Web browser. I am not using SeaMonkey v2 beta yet due to bugs and prerelease stage.

Videos on post pages do not appear if Flashblock is on. I know this was mentioned earlier, but I don't know if this is being worked on, and I wanted to give an update. It's only with videos from some hosts that this happens. I haven't checked all of the allowed hosts yet, but so far YouTube, CollegeHumor, MySpace, Hulu, TheOnion, and Vimeo don't work, but Google and ComedyCentral embeds work just fine. Also, the hover text for the embed says "about:blank" when it doesn't work.

I've tried recreating this issue and it would only happen with an old version of FlashBlock. Tried it using the newest version (1.5.11.2) and embeds show up fine after clicking the FlashBlock icon.

What broser(version) and version of FlashBlock are you using?

Thanks for the info campioni. Unfortunately, my browser integrates Flashblock (currently verions 1.5.8), so it's not something I can update. I'll just have to wait until they release the next version of the browser.

Same here for FlashBlock extension version for SeaMonkey v1.1.17. v2 beta 1 and the newer FlashBlock version had no problems though, but I refuse to use prereleases.

George Lucas sucks, or: one of the many reasons why the new trilogy is so much worse than the old (Blog Entry by Sarzy)

videosiftbannedme says...

Gotta agree. I spent a long time defending Lucas. Afterall, he took the majority of the money made from Star Wars and dumped it into ILM. He did the same with ESB and ROTJ. He has continually pushed for better technology in cinema to not only tell the story, but in appreciating it (ie. digital projection, THX, etc.) His contributions to the development of cinema cannot be overstated. I won't say that without him, we wouldn't have T2, LOTR, etc, as assuredly, someone would have come along eventually.

But I don't believe Lucas is to blame for the overuse of CGI, simply because he invested in it initially. I do agree the second trilogy (first?) was worse due to its heavy reliance on CG. But everyone overuses it unfortunately; using it as a crutch, as opposed to good story or limited use in the proper context.

With all that said, he is a cash whore. How many versions of the original trilogy are there?

1. Original P&S VHS
2. Original widescreen VHS
3. "Updated" P&S VHS
4. "Updated widescreen VHS
5. "Updated V2" fullscreen DVD
6. "Updated V2" widescreen DVD
7. non-animorphic widescreen original trilogy DVD

And Roddenberry's estate is even worse. Oh well, what can you do?

Escape From City 17 Part One

So *dark, it's made by guys from Toronto, *Canada. Valve is so impressed it's one of the updates when you launch Steam this weekend.

great little film, look forward to seeing the rest. looks very nice
there is a reason HL hasn't been made into a film. Valve, like the rest of know that there are NO good films based on games, not one. Therefore it's entirely likely that a HL film will suck donkey balls, it shouldn't, HL is brilliantly told story, but a film.. well the odds are definately against it being good!

That's why they should get THESE guys to make it!

Exactly quantumushroom. I think you nailed it there.

Those darn pesky liberals only want to destroy the US. If they get into power they will without a doubt drag the economy into the cellar, run up massive hostoric record breaking deficits, run up trillions in debt fighting wars against Bin Laden in the wrong country justified by fabricated evidence, start conflicts in democratic nations and as a direct result lead us into Cold War v2.0.

Heck, before we know it, the Constitution will be worth jack, and we'll find ourselves living in a police state.

Those liberals sure are scary. Just like terrorists. They are everywhere. In every corner. Those sneaky bastards are in our trashcans, ashtrays, hiding in the bushes. We should be afraid. VERY afraid!

Vote to fight terrorism! Vote to keep terrorists out of your bushes! Vote to keep terrorists out of KANSAS AND MISSOURI! VOTE MCSAME!
