Chris Rock vs. Ron Paul

EvilDeathBee says...

I've never been to the States, but a friend of mine who went to Hawaii was stunned at the amount of drug ads on the telly. It's hard for me to imagine TV where every 2nd ad is someone trying to push some BS drug at you. We get none of that crap here in Australia. Sure we get ads for things like pain relievers, hay fever, etc but none of these "Here's a list of symptoms. If you have one, you need this drug". That's just fucked.

Charlie Brooker on Media's Japan Coverage

kymbos says...

For example, I watched to find out the extent of damage from the tsunami, and I've watched the videos on the sift of the wave hitting the coastal towns, but since then there's been 'up to the minute' updates on the nuclear situation from people who don't understand nuclear technology and have no new information. It seems to me that there'll be a while before anything significantly changes on that, and I'm not willing to stay glued to the telly while this goes on. Honestly, it seems a bit depraved to me to want to do that. I'm not saying I'm normal, that's just how I see it.

@ LizLizscot, Hey now, no need to blame god exclusively or even the bogus interpretation(s) offered up from the best and worst of devotees of all sects, creeds, religious atheists, etc.
Perhaps it's the modern Persian male and the generations of deficit imprinting?
(in most personal experiences with the same, the stereotype seems to have served adequately)
-Cultures the world over have all risen respectively to their incompetence in demonstrating a healthy social evolution. What can one say ma'am, the world is a pretty sick place thanks to most humans.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned the possibility that while her cover as a correspondent (guess so) may be without holes, CBS might be using a universally incendiary act allegedly perpetrated by some revolutionary yahoos to produce some new and improved hype in order to rally nation(s) of robots to fall deeper into their somnambulant stupor regarding the mechanisms and intent of world affairs?

Who cares if she's the best-looking teleprompter-reading propagandist on the telly? Hmmm?

In reply to this comment by shrimpfork:
I concur by voting for this video though this fellow regularly abuses his internet status of alternative news source with the kind of lazy-minded titillation reserved for tabloids and entertainment news segments.
Wall Street should be burned to the ground in effigy for future generations.

Dead Island Trailer - VERY well done

Deano says...

Very classy. Obviously showing decapitation is extreme but it is a zombie game I presume (I haven't even heard of this til today). They'd definitely have to make cuts for telly but this is perfect for the net. What makes this stand out of course is the child. You never see them getting infected and rampaging around. It's still so taboo to kill virtual children, zombies or not.

What's most impressive is the quality of movement and facial expression. The eyes still look dodgy most of the time but in terms of rendering people we are getting there.

Telly, check out the site rules. You aren't supposed to submit your own stuff. You obviously aren't here to hawk a product or make money off of the site and your video is altruistic, so hopefully other members will be forgiving. Draw Muhammad Day (First Annual!)

Farhad2000 says...

I think you're taking it a lil' too far. Like I don't watch major networks and I didn't hear about this whole drawing muhammed thing like ever before. Bar the original BBC/CNN debacle a couple of years back which did happen during a slow news day. I think most of this is manufactured totally and gives some free publicity to some small sector of nutters.

Like this past year some group announced some plans to hold a rally carrying caskets of dead muslims around the city in the UK where almost all UK troops killed in Afghanistan are carried through.

What followed was NATIONWIDE coverage and outrage from all sectors of the public from MPs to the SUN to the fucking mail about how fucking horrible and insensitive it was and what not.

The rally never happened, it was just announced and PRed into the mainstream media and made the group who wanted to hold it national news they had the head guy up on telly chatting shit. Their representantive actually said that they did this for Pr and the media bought and spewed it back to the masses.

Its just like those pictures of muslims in the UK with signs that read SHARIA is GOOD for UK, all zoomed in with cops around made to look like there are hundreds of people pull back and theres like 12 of them...

Its just yellow journalism of another sort.

>> ^gwiz665:

I'd like to see that, god yes. Major networks want to spark the controversy even more, it's good news, gives good ratings. I'd like to see muslims unite against muslim hatred, on the inter-web for instance. There's not censorship here other than what we make ourselves (and china and so on), but there's far less censorship than on any network.
Every muslim who says "oh that's only the fundamentalists, most of us aren't like that, so I'm just going to stay muslim and mind my own business" is in essence undermining the effort to destroy the fundamentalists and their stupid beliefs. Why don't they make "neo-islam" a thing akin to protestants breaking off from the crazier outliers of their religion, so we know more clearly who to hat and who not to? That would be a good start.
I'm speaking out against islam, christianity, mormonism etc. because I cannot just stand by while we devolve into the dark ages again. Why can't more people just voice their disdain, dislike, disgust or whatever they have for the fundamentalists, who more than anything else sullies their religion, their persons, their families?? Why aren't they OUTRAGED!?>> ^Farhad2000:
Oh come on show me one major media network that has ever been willing to put on the air a moderate muslim voice like Hamza Yusuf.
>> ^gwiz665:
I blame them all. If they want to be a religion of peace, they have to speak out against the violence. As long as they just go along with it, they are not much better themselves. I spit in their direction.
>> ^MrFisk:
Freedom of speech is the primary thread that the Bill of Rights, and thus, the U.S. Constitution dangles from. However, it is not absolute - e.g., I cannot yell "fire" in a crowded theater.
Now, I hold free speech especially dear to my reasoning. I believe that John Milton's Areopagitica is essential - i.e., "Let [Truth] and Falsehood grapple." (That is the key to explain my Glenn Beck submissions.)
And don't get me wrong, I'm all for drawing Muhammad, but I downvote this because this guy is a moron and don't think that you should blame an entire religion for something a handful of douche bags espouse. The real shame is that these handful of douche bags has been given such a loud voice by the media it quivers others into submission.

The Young Ones

Conan O'Brien (and others?) videos on nbc.com and hulu.com. (Sift Talk Post)

ant says...

I rarely see ads from them due to adblocker.

>> ^choggie:
Another great reason to eliminate the memory of television by boycotting the tripe that places like Hulu, MSNBC, and any other network television write-off that's trying to turn the video on the internet into a fucking commercial hell-hole....You'll notice as well ant, that following or preceding many viddies posted in the last 6 months, we must suffer yet another commercial tirade of horseshit.
Soon, after spending about an hour on sites like VS, you will have watched twice as many commercials as you would had you had the telly on.....not only that, the same FUCKING commercial over and over and over again.....
Vimeo, Hulu, MSNBC....their players suck, filled with plugs and adverts, and the content programmed to dumb-down the masses. I'm sure others can name more sites whose embeds reek of corporate hi-jack, as I spend less and less time sifting through the sheit.
Time for more of you to render dead some more dried dogshit in the form of spammage from these sites.
