How the Alt-Right Trolls

Asmo says...

Okay, so you put half the population in a box so you don't have to deal with the concept that there were many other reasons people might have voted for Trump...

You get the irony right? Or is it left? He did say that this strategy wasn't exclusive the province of the right... /giggle

The thing about this is most adults don't use their lizard brain to think...but the right uses only it's lizard brain these days. What do we do when fully half the population consistently ignores reality? Ignoring the ignorant got us Trump.

Donna Brazile: HRC controlled DNC and rigged the primary

scheherazade says...

This video is strange to me. It's like the guy woke up and realized what everyone else already knew before the election was even over.

Video makes references to the DNC/Hillary campaign calling the emails a conspiracy - but I don't remember them ever denying the authenticity of the emails.
All it would have taken was one phrase : "these emails are made up".
But they didn't - and the only reason to not deny, is if you know it will be confirmed and you will be caught lying.

The irony of the situation is:
- DNC&Hillary rigs primary election against Bernie, undermining democratic elections.
- *Russia steals and leaks documents showing that the DNC was undermining democratic elections.
- *Russia is the bad guy, because 'letting people know that elections are being rigged' is making people upset at the cheaters, and is improperly influencing elections against the cheaters.

So, apparently it's fine if you cheat, but it's cheating if you let people know who's cheating.

It's like the bizarro episode from SeaLab2021, only applied to political sensibilities.

A feminist comes to terms with the Men's Rights movement

ChaosEngine says...

You could argue that the issues that hold men down are generally caused by the same issues feminists are fighting for.

One of the biggest issues affecting men is suicide, especially in younger males. And one of the primary drivers of this is "macho" culture; the idea that it's not "manly" to ask for emotional help.

The other issue I hear about is fathers rights (a court will almost always side with a mother in a custody dispute). Again, this is caused by the idea that the woman should be looking after the children.

The irony is that the fundamental difference between men's issues and women's issues is actually the fundamental similarity: both are caused by societal structures that dictate the role of men and women.

The difference is that historically (and let's be honest, even today), men hold the power and make the rules.

Sagemind said:

I've been saying this for years.
Men have some real issues that hold them down.
But that doesn't mean we can't also acknowledge the issues that woman face at the same time.

Bouncer vs. Gunman

CrushBug says...

Yeah, while there is a little irony there, it's not like they are trained in disarming or are expected to handled armed suspects. Security in a bar is about dealing with drunks.

How one tweet can ruin your life - Jon Ronson

bcglorf says...

The point
Your head

And I don't believe for a moment that you really are missing the point.

The victim in the video made a tweet that sounds racist, but was meant in a sarcastic manner to be making fun of the stupid things racists say.

Your own comment you've made before is the same thing, saying profiting of racism is AOK, in a sarcastic way to be making fun of the stupid things racists do:
Once you learn to profit from racism then BS like this doesn't bother you. In fact you begin to appreciate all the hard free labor that keeps the dividends flowing

You weren't really advocating for enjoying the free labor and profits of racism, you were making fun of it. The victim you are so quick to run a bus over and see ruined made the same joke as you did, but you still fail to see any irony or double standard in this.

And 1 sentence to refute your off-topic rant. Apparently newtboy and I differ from you in believing the historic racism and prejudices were BAD and should be ended rather than recycled against a new range of victims.

C-note said:

So you are implying profiting off racism and racists is racist. That is an interesting opinion.
In america there is a well documented history of what happens to any black person caught demeaning whites in any minor way.

Colbert To Trump: 'Doing Nothing Is Cowardice'

ChaosEngine says...

WTF does Hillary have to do with any of this?

Let's be very clear here. No-one is talking about banning guns (and if anyone is, they can fuck right off). Guns are useful tools. I've been target shooting a few times, I have friends who hunt. I wouldn't see their guns taken from them because they are sensible people who use guns in a reasonable way.

What we are talking about is a reasonable level of control, like background checks, restrictions on certain types of weapons, etc.

BTW, you might want to actually read the 2nd amendment.
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"

None of these people are in a well-regulated militia, and in 2017 "a well regulated militia" is not necessary to the security of the state, that's what a standing army and a police force are for.

Your seatbelt analogy also makes no sense at all. If I drive around without a seatbelt and crash, the only one hurt is me (I'm still a fucking inconsiderate asshole if I do that, but that's another story). Guns are all about hurting other people, so it makes sense to regulate them.

Fundamentally, the USA needs to grow the fuck up and stop believing "Die Hard" is a documentary.

You are not Roy Rogers.
You do not need a gun for "home defence".
You are more likely to be killed by a criminal if you have a gun than if you don't.
And the most powerful weapon you have against a fascist dictatorship is not firearms, but the ballot box.

The irony is that while your democracy is increasingly slipping away from you (gerrymandering, super PACs, voter suppression), you have a corporate-funded lobby group protecting your firearms.

scheherazade said:

Precisely. They have those guns in their hands, and don't shoot people.

The only things that I ding Hillary on are :

- Being a part of installing missile launchers on Russia's eastern border, and giving the asinine explanation that it's "to defend against Iran". Antagonizing Russia is so unnecessary and so old. I swear some people are just thirsty for the cold war to return.

- Cheating with the DNC in the primaries and screwing Bernie out of a win... who by the way could have carried the general election against carrot head. I'd rather have the Bern than either a sellout or a clown.

One side sees the other as paranoid.
The other side sees the first as short sighted.

I don't expect to be in a crash, I still prefer to wear a seat belt. But by all means, I don't care if someone chooses not to.

Accidental Courtesy: Daryl Davis, Race & America - Festival

Asmo says...

As an adjunct to this video, there is this interview with 2 BLM activists that is part of the documentary.

The awful irony is that in the documentary, Daryl has far more reasoned and polite conversations with dyed in the wool white supremacists than he does with fellow members of his race.

After the two interviewees walk out, a 3rd BLM member steps in and launches an escalating tirade, but storms out without even bothering to listen to a different viewpoint.

This is what I think is the issue. When people who proclaim that black lives matter can't even sit there and listen to the opinion of a black man, what's the fucking point?

Perhaps the most poignant part of this video is the last minute (from 10:00 onwards).

(speaking about one of the BLM members)

"He was very definite that white people could not change. How is he going to advance any agenda in this country, as diverse as it is?"

Liberal Redneck - Virginia is for Lovers, not Nazis

enoch says...

@Asmo

i hear what yer saying bud,and you are making valid points that many on the left just seem allergic to even acknowledge, let alone criticize.

but i do not think newt falls in that category,i do not mean to speak for him (but i will anyways, because i am a cock).newt was simply pointing out what ANTIFA meant,he was not making a moral judgment (i think they are deluded ideological cunts myself).

i am betting that newt, along with the majority of americans, had no idea how this clusterfuck of a social neanderthals found themselves clashing with their knuckledragging,piss-poor ideology of dollar store enlightenment and hyper-racist nationalism.

hell, the majority didn't even bother to ask the question :"how did this happen"?

well it didn't fall out of the fucking sky sweetheart!

if you are a conservative,a republican and you think that white nationalism is not a problem, and needs to be exposed for the bullshit tribalism it represents.

then you are part of the problem.

if you are a liberal/progressive,and a democrat and you think that it is perfectly fine to "punch a nazi in the face",attack those who you disagree with ideologically and do your best to prevent them from speaking, often using violence.

then allow me to introduce you to a fantastic word in the english language:irony

and let's tack on "hypocrite" for good measure.

because you are part of the problem as well.

i am not impressed with unenlightened, self centered and narcissistic ideologies that try to pass themselves off as relevant social issues.

i mean seriously...fuck these people.

Why Old Screens Make A High Pitched Noise

Jinx says...

Live long enough and you don't have to hear one of the most annoying sounds. CRTs might have more or less gone the way of the dodo, but coil whine can strike at ANY TIME!. If you can't hear it take it as a blessing cos irony is a thing and so is tinnitus.

CNN begs for forgiveness, Project Veritas plays its Zapruder

enoch says...

@kir_mokum

what makes the irony even more grotesque is that:

1.look at who projectveritas actually IS.it was founded by that slug james o'keefe..yes..THAT james o'keefe, and due to CNN being such an absolute failure of journalistic integrity, they just made that repulsive man actually credible again.

2.CNN had to post a massive retraction,a formal editors note and a at least three correspondents had to fall on the sword.

3.the projectveritas video has a CNN producer openly admitting that it is about the ratings, and nothing more.the russia story makes CNN money....period.

4.there is STILL no evidence of the trump administration "colluding" with russian intelligence, but there IS evidence that the russia story is being pushed by the american "deep state" to discredit,and/or control trump.

*of course this is from independent media who are not part of the corporate media tentacled network of obfuscation, propaganda and gaslighting.

5.the only media still giving the russia story any credence is american media.the rest of the world has moved on.why? no evidence.

this whole situation stinks to high fucking heaven.
