a) Polls before this nomination stating that McCain is more popular than Obama... WHO the crap could possibly think that a dottery old fool who is anti science, anti athiests, anti gay, pro creationism, pro 'life', is a rich, out of touch money hungry conservative, will do ANYTHING GOOD? ANYTHING for the USA or the world? With him at the helm, the US will descend further, further into the mire it currently finds itself in, the rest of the world will be partially pulled down with it, and hopefully pull away from it and build up our own world governing power more to steer the world a bit better.

b) The republicans choose THIS woman... THIS woman who is a shining example of how refusing sex education and having a healthy attitude to sex and relationships ends up... with her teenage daughter pregnant and now being forced into marrying the father... yeah, won't that end well. HOW can someone continue to think that abstinence and lack of knowledge on sexual matters is the right way to go when she has THIS as an example? Her own daughter's life screwed up... having a child at 17, when she should have had so many more years of just being free and enjoying her life and gaining experience before taking the enormous step of being responsible for a child.

Hooooly crap it's scary that they could think that this will win votes... and if it does... if they are the people to lead the USA... well... good luck, as the rest of us are going to abandon your red white and blue ship.

I'd like to know, too. I hadn't heard that part before, but it sounds highly suspicious. It's awfully hard to be someone's caretaker when you're sleeping 20 hours a day.

Well, There are also photos rather late in the pregnancy (7 months, I think) showing Sarah with no obvious pregnancy signs, and some family photos from earlier (5 months maybe?) where the daughter is *maybe* showing a bit of a bump. I wasn't convinced by these, though a 40+ woman on her fifth pregnancy at 7 months *not* very obviously showing seems a bit unlikely.

Somewhat more interesting to me were the circumstances of the birth. Mrs. Palin went into labor (possibly early stage) while at a convention of some sort and she was due to give a keynote speech. She decided to go ahead with it, then afterwards fly home (from Texas - 8+ hours I think) and drive another 45 minutes or so to get to her small town hospital. While a month early with a Downs baby at age 43(?). Assuming the rumor is false (I'm undecided) I feel this demonstrates serious negligence on the governor's part - she had to know that there was a not insignificant risk involved.

I have no desire to see Sarah Palin's daughter used for any sort of political advantage, or really to know much about her at all - it's none of my business. I'm a bit loathe to even submit this comment in case the whole thing is complete BS, but anything which would show a significant deficiency in a potential US President's judgment on important matters *is* my business. I'd like to hear at least some sort of response to the allegation - to explain the seemingly risky travel, if nothing else.

Mostly was thinking how nutso everyone went over Jamie Lynn Spears' teenage pregnancy, and I'm thinking "daughter of VP" is probably higher social status than the Spears family.
